This year Dharamshala international film festival DIFF will be held from 1 st November to 4 th November, 2018 for cinema lovers, critics, researchers and enthusiasts. Film makers Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam are credited with conceptualizing and initiating the Dharamshala International Film Festival under the banner of White Crane Films from 2012.
Since then this yearly Fest has been attracting reputed Indian and International Film makers, professionals, critics, Film Directors and Editors to this week long meet of creative workshops, screening and large scale viewing of contemporary qualitative and culturally diverse films.
The stress is on non-commercial, sensitive documentaries, short and long fiction, full length feature films and animation films with a view to present to the audience the diversity of world cultures, spaces and humans.
The choice of Dharamshala-Mcleodganj for the venue is also selective. Dharamshala- Mcleodganj have a cosmopolitan culture comprising Indian, Tibetan, Gorkha and International population all having diverse cultures, languages and origin’s footprints. The Dalai Lama has his permanent abode at Dharamshala-Mcleodganj for the last 58 years. Dharamshala is ideally situated at the foot of world famous Dhauldhar range of the Himalayas beautifully carpeted with white snow almost throughout the year with greenery abounding. Traditional tribes men, Gaddis (Shepherds) have their sizeable population at Dharamshala and the beautiful Cricket stadium has added the charismatic charm of this towering hilly township. A multiplex has recently sprung up at Dharamshala. Hence the place makes it a fit venue for creative discourse on any subject, no less high quality Cinema and Arts.
Increasing number of creative films are being featured during the Dharamshala Intenational Film Festival with each passing year. So! Hold your breath and wait for the November 1 to 4 International Film Festival at Dharamshala-Mcleodganj . A week long workshop on the theme will be organized from 29 th October 2018 to be co-terminus with the DIFF event on 4 th November.
